What to hand off first
The best first hire does one job that eats your time and has a clear finish line: the inbox at zero, the listings posted, the books reconciled, the calls booked. Not "help with everything". Nobody learns everything at once, and you cannot judge work you never defined.
Write the job in five lines: what they do, for whom, how often, what tools, and what "done" looks like. If you cannot write it, you cannot hand it off yet.
If you are hiring a team, do this for each seat. Two clear jobs beat one vague one every time.
Do this today: write the five lines for your first seat, and keep them for the job post and the hiring agreement.
