The interview
Do it in writing first: send five questions and read the answers for clarity and speed. Then one short video call, twenty minutes, camera on both sides, to hear their English and see their setup.
Ask about the work they have done, how they handle a task they do not understand, their hours in your time zone, their computer and internet, and what would make them stay for years. The interview questions sheet on the Contracts and documents page has sixteen you can pick from.
